Bali Visa On arrival
This is the most common visa in Bali and it allows you to stay up to 30 days.
How much Bali visa on arrival cost?
Visa on arrival is free of charge, you don´t need to apply for them in advance and will get the stamp into your passport during going through immigration line at the airport.
How long can I stay in Indonesia on Bali Visa on arrival?
Once you go through the immigration point at the airport and get this stamp you need to leave the country (Indonesia) before 30 days and you don’t have a chance to extended them anymore.
What to do when I am already in Bali and I need to stay longer than 30 days?
If you are already in Bali on this visa and wanna stay longer, you need to leave Indonesia. You can do what people call a“visa run” which is travelling out of Indonesia and the same day comes back, to get another 30-day visa stamp in your passport. The shortest and cheapest destinations are Singapore or Kuala Lumpur.
At the Denpasar airport in Bali, you can leave your bike for 14k IDR per day (4k IDR per 12 hours). That’s another good tip for you how to save money and do this re-entering the country on your own and without paying a taxi or getting stuck in the car with the Bali traffic jam. 🙂

This visa allows you to stay up to 60 days in total!
How much Bali visa on arrival – extendable cost?
It is Important to apply and pay for the extendable visa immediately at the airport when arriving! It cost 494k IDR and you need to go through the counter at the airport before the immigration line.
Don’t do what we did once!:D After a long flight, we were tired and just wanted to be in the bed. We forgot that the counter for paying VOA (Visa on arrival) is before the immigration stamping counter. We lined up, waited, got a stamp and then realized we missed the chance to get the visa for 60 days and because of this we were left with the standard 30 days visa!

You can pay in many different currencies but cash only. There is an ATM if you need.
You will get a stamp and ticket which is important to not to lose!:)
But this is not the end of the visa process.
Now you still have a 30 days visa only with a possibility to extend it to 60 days!
To get a 60 days visa you still need to extend the visa.
When and how to extend the Bali visa on arrival?
So after this, you can enter Indonesia and within 14 days of being in the country and not longer than 1 week before your visa expiration (before your first 3 weeks in Indonesia) you have two ways how to extend: By yourself or through an Agent.
We did both ways so we can tell you what each way includes.

So after your 14 days stay in Bali you need to go to the immigration office in Jimbaran.
What do I need for a visit to the Immigration office in Bali?
Take with you your passport and copy of your passport – a copy of a page with your name and a page with the Visa stamp you have received at the airport. Next, you need printed flight tickets out of Indonesia, visa stamp from the airport and filled form you will get at the office.
Tip: if you forgot to copy and print your documents in advance, you can do it just next to the Immigration office in Jimbaran. If you go out of the office and continue walking down the street maybe another 20 metres, you will see sign COPY:)
On this first visit, you need to arrive between 8-12 am. They will take your passport, printed documents and the filled form. You will receive a payment document which you will pay in an orange car in front of the office – 355k IDR. And you will get a date for your second visit.
For the second visit, you will bring a confirmation from the orange car that you have paid.
We would recommend you to come in the morning as early as possible!
As well they will take your fingerprints and take a photo of you. You will get a date when you need to come for the third time.
The third visit in Immigration office is as easy as just picking up your passport with extended visa and here you go, you can stay for the maximum of 60 days in Indonesia!
For picking up your passport you need to come between 2 pm and 3 pm. And you have up to 3 working days after the date they will give you to come and pick it up.

Bali Visa on arrival extension with agent:
After 14 days in Bali, you need to get in touch with some of the many agents, give them your passport and pay them around 650K – 700k IDR. They will do the whole process for you, you will need to go to the immigration office only once to give your fingerprints and take a photo of you. When its all done they will deliver your passport back to you.
It’s definitely an easier way how to extend your visa. You don’t need to go three times to the immigration office, don’t need to go to the bank on your own but it costs you about 350k IDR more. So it just depends on you which way you will choose to do:)

How can I stay longer than 60 days in Bali?
Another possibility of how to stay longer in Bali is Social Visa if you are planning to stay up to 6 months.
This visa we would recommend you to go through an agent if you don’t wanna go every month three times to the immigration office and do the process all over again. This visa includes quite long preparation but in short – they are for two months for free and then you can extend them up to 4 times. So in total, it will give you 6 month in Indonesia and costs you every month 650k IDR for the agent. This is the way how many of those people who live in Bali do they visa situation. It´s important to know that during those 6 months you need to stay in Indonesia. Leaving Indonesia will mean losing your social visa and you would need to apply for them and pay for them again!
What time is the Bali Visa Immigration office open?
The Immigration office in Bali for extending a visa is open Monday to Friday from 8 am to 4 pm.
Jimbaran Immigration office Bali opening hours and when is the best time to go there?
Even though they are open from 8 am to 4 pm, for the first and second visit you need to arrive between 8 am and 11 am. The earlier you get there the smaller the line of people will be!
For your third and last visit, you need to arrive between 2 pm and 3 pm.
